Economic Development and Diversification Plan
Elkhart County’s strong history in the recreation vehicle industry provided it with a strong, but highly constrained economic base. The events of the recession showcased how reliance on one industry type increases the overall risk to the community.
ICA was called in to identify the specific risks to the County’s economic base and build a plan for the EDC to re-align its efforts to build economic resiliency and sustainability. We helped to identify real economic opportunities that the County can attract and support based on its heritage and workforce, and worked with the EDC to make initial inroads to decision makers. Additionally, ICA performed a website review and cited recommended changes on all major Economic Development websites within Elkhart County. ICA continues to advise on organizational, marketing, targeting, and other implementation efforts.
