Examination of Labor Market and Economic Impacts of Transportation Investment
ICA was called upon to provide supporting evidence in a proposal for several Transportation Improvements Generating Economic Recovery (“TIGER”) grants. Each grant was intended to provide funding for “Shovel Ready” transportation projects that would support economic competitiveness and have a substantial economic impact on the region.
The Dulles Toll Road project was intended to provide additional transportation capacity from the Washington DC and Northern Virginia region to and from the Dulles airport area and the corresponding corporate employment centers. In order to support the proposal, ICA both examined the direct economic impacts of the investment and also provided an analysis of the labor force with current access to the Dulles market and that which might then be able to access employment as a result of the improvements.
